Hunts Point African Burial Ground Walks

The Hunts Point African Burial Ground Walk is a guided walking tour that brings the history and present-day realities of Hunts Point to life. Beginning at BronxArtSpace and culminating at the African Burial Ground at Drake Park, this immersive experience invites participants to engage with the often overlooked histories of slavery, survival, and community resilience present in the landscape. Through listening exercises, embodied movement practices, storytelling, and collective reflection, participants are invited to deepen their connections to memory, place and each other.

Drake Park Walks are adaptable for artists, educators, students, community groups, and the general public.

Listening with the Land Workshops

Listening With the Land is a series of place-based workshops rooted in embodied listening, environmental justice, and collective care. Originating along the Harlem River in New York City, this adaptable framework invites participants to build relationships with local land and water systems through embodied practices, participatory storytelling, and creative inquiry. Inspired by the Rights of Nature Movement, workshops culminate in the collective authorship of a site-specific Bill of Rights for the Land, centering land or water as a living entity with legal rights.

Offerings are available for youth and older adults and can be presented as standalone experiences or as part of longer community engagements. See more here.
