Is Not Yet (2026)
Is Not Yet is an interdisciplinary performance work that follows a young Bronx girl who discovers a long-buried creek beneath her basement apartment. Each time it rains, the water rises, summoning her to reckon with history and reconnect with the knowledge held in her body, her community, and the land. Four characters shape the work: Young Girl, Watchman, Elder, and River Ancestor. As Young Girl makes her discovery, Elder, who is attuned to the land, and Watchman, who tends to time, serve as her guides.
Integrating dance, theater, song, video, and projection design, this evening-length work examines the relationship between systemic inequities and environmental harms, while inviting audiences to reflect on their relationship to the natural world. By centering non-human perspectives, the project proposes a future in which the well-being of land and water is seen as inseparable from our own.
